The "Janet Zakos Charitable Foundation", based in Geneva, was established on 20 December 2005 for the purpose of granting scholarships to students of Byzantine Studies and/or the purchase and subsequent donation of Byzantine objects to museums that have wings with permanent Byzantine exhibitions. The scholarship is open to postgraduate students of the MSc "Byzantine World: History and Archaeology" and doctoral candidates in Byzantine History or Byzantine Archaeology of the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens.
