"NIKOS OIKONOMIDES" SEMINAR

The interdisciplinary seminar "Nikos Economides" is organized every year in the spring semester, in collaboration with the Byzantine Research Department of the Institute of Byzantine Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation. The seminar was established in 1988 by the late Professor of Byzantine History Nikos Economides and was integrated into the old postgraduate program of the Department of History and Archaeology from the academic year 1989-1990.

The aim of the seminar is the interdisciplinary approach to issues from the disciplines of Byzantine History, Archaeology and Art History, and Philology. The meetings will be attended by speakers from universities and research institutes in Greece and abroad, members of the Archaeological Service and independent researchers. At the end of each cycle, a conference is held in which students present the papers they have completed in the course of the seminar.
